Emergency Response
Fire suppression, medical first response, vehicle extrication, and hazardous material incidents — our crews are trained and equipped to handle it all.
The Matlock Volunteer Fire Department is made up of real people from this community — your friends, neighbors, and local business owners — trained and equipped to protect what matters most to you.
About Us
Matlock is the kind of town where people know each other's names, look out for one another, and show up when it counts. The Matlock Volunteer Fire Department is an extension of that spirit — a team of dedicated volunteers who live here, work here, and care deeply about keeping our community safe.
Since 1952, we've responded to emergencies, conducted fire safety inspections, and run educational programs for schools and community groups. We're not a government agency with distant headquarters — we're your neighbors, and we're proud of the role we play in Matlock's story.
What We Do
From emergency response to prevention education, we offer a full range of services to keep Matlock safe and prepared.
Fire suppression, medical first response, vehicle extrication, and hazardous material incidents — our crews are trained and equipped to handle it all.
Commercial and residential fire code inspections, permit reviews, and safety plan development to help prevent disasters before they start.
Free fire safety workshops for schools, senior centers, and community groups — including smoke alarm installation and escape planning.
Open houses, station tours, National Night Out participation, and firefighter demos that bring the community together and build trust.
Our volunteers provide BLS-level medical care while waiting for ambulance services — critical minutes that can make the difference between life and death.
Wilderness, structural, and water rescue operations coordinated with county and state agencies whenever Matlock residents need us most.
Our Community
We believe that safety isn't just about responding to emergencies — it's about building a community where emergencies are less likely to happen. That's why we invest in education, outreach, and relationships.
Every year we visit local schools, host public training sessions, and partner with community organizations to spread awareness about fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and how everyone can play a role in keeping Matlock safe.
